If I Stay by: Gayle Forman Part 1 and 2

I love the novel because it emphasizes love and bravery. Mia for me was a strong and brave woman because even though she was left by her parents and little brother due to vehicular accident, she still has chosen to live and go on with her life which means she may not see her family for the mean time but it would make her realize that life is very precious. If you were given a chance to live, you should go and grab it and make the most out of it. She still has her Gran and Gramps, her aunts, uncles, cousins, her boyfriend Adam, who promised to do anything for Mia, if she would just stay, waiting for her.
On November last year, I’ve experienced my first and hopefully the last vehicular accident. It was around 7 pm and we were heading to Malapatan, Sarangani Province using our car to attend a birthday party. We were eight in the car and my uncle was the one driving. We were on the middle of our chitchatting when we noticed that we are not on the right lane anymore. I thought my uncle just wanted to overtake the car in front of us but I was wrong. There was a tricycle approaching and it hit the side of the car which left the side mirror and the glass window of the car broken. I think it’s a blessing in disguise that it’s the tricycle which hit us because there was a ten-wheeler truck following it. Then, when we got out of the car, we noticed that my uncle is sweating and we wondered why he is still not going out. Then we realized that he was having a stroke. He can’t even move a single finger. Good thing was there were government officials from the municipality who went over and rushed my uncle to the hospital. I kept on praying that everything would be fine. And because the Lord is the best, He listened to my prayers.
I wonder how it feels being half dead like Mia. Half dead in a sense that her body is still there lying in the hospital bed with many tubes connected to her body while her soul strolling in the hallway, watching the nurses, doctors and your family talking about her. I wonder if it’s possible that you can pass through walls without the use of doors or windows. I wonder if she wouldn’t get hungry nor thirsty. I wonder if there would be someone who can see or hear her who has the same situation as her. I wonder why she can’t see her mother, father and Teddy.
I predict that in the end, it would still be Mia and Adam. I think Adam would care more for Mia because of what she had experienced. Adam would marry her and they would make a beautiful family. They will make their own careers in music. Adam with his band, and Mia with her cello.
